Activity ideas

This is the pace to make suggestions about ideas for various activities that parents can conceive, produce and run as well as the activities we are getting external artists in to run.

A number of outline activity ideas have been discussed:

·         Junk sculptures – where children make things against a brief from a box of bits

·         Water pistol rain experiment

·         Planet/astronomy visualisation – paper mache planets to show scale

·         Alternative uses for things – to encourage lateral thinking

·         Junk stories – children have to create a collage of random objects to illustrate a sentence

·         Food tasting – taste/smell the difference

·         Treasure hint

·         Paper stick machine – an invention/inventor are available to hire that make sticks out of old newspaper that can be used to build a structure

·         PlayDoh modelling – against a brief

·         Badge making – school has a machine

·         Make a book – maybe after the event of content created at the event

·         Sensory lab – a room where children touch, feel, smell objects and have to guess what they are

·         UV room – darkened room with UV light and children have face paint or white objects
